Event Update

NEW YORK – Thursday, May 15, the 4th Annual Jerusalem Prayer Banquet was held in the Delegates Dining Room of the United Nations! Over 500 guests filled the room, including hundreds of Jewish and Christian business and spiritual leaders. The event, which was recorded and re-broadcast by GOD TV, was historic in that it was the first gathering of its type ever to be held at the United Nations.

Robert Stearns opened the night reminding the guests of the significance of the fact this event was coinciding with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the modern state of Israel. Robert shared the three reasons why Christians stand with Israel, and received a rousing ovation when he declared, “we will never allow the sin of silence of the Church in the 1930’s to be repeated again. Not on our watch!”

Joining Robert were other speakers such as Pastor Daniel Mueller from Missionwerk, the second largest church in Germany; Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, the Chief Rabbi of Efrat, Israel; Student Alumni of the Israel Experience College Scholarship Program; Pastor John Hagee, Founder and National Chairman of Christians United for Israel; and Consul General of Israel Ambassador Asaf Shariv.

The evening concluded with a time of prayer with both Christian leaders and Jewish leaders praying blessings over Israel. At the very end Robert Stearns came to the podium and sang a stirring rendition of the Israeli anthem “Hatikva.”

Many of the guests afterwards declared that they had never been a part of such a powerful evening. Some of Jewish guests remarked on the significance of the evening, saying this was a night they would never forget.

Friday evening the event culminated in a powerful city-wide “Jerusalem Prayer Rally” at Evangel Church with Pastor Robert Johansson in Queens. As believers from all over the city and around the world gathered together in prayer that night, from the very first moments in worship there was a sense of the Spirit of the Lord moving in the room. Pastors from Brazil, Germany, and Singapore who had come for the banquet took the mic and prayed strong blessings over Israel. To God be the glory - praise the Lord for all He has done!
